How long is now?

... Notes on a Protest Movement

I.
These busy intersections, plenty of buses, cars, bikes, pedestrians – all in a rush getting somewhere other than this place. The streets of Tel Aviv know the hum, the honk, the hustle, particularly since the middle of July 2011, when a rather unprecedented level of socio-political awareness started getting a hold of an impressively increasing amount of (predominantly Jewish) Israeli citizens. The streets, Rothschild Boulevard most prominently, now not only know about the hum, the honk, the hustle, but are learning to host all sorts of people’s desiring and demanding calls for a rather blurry concept of “social justice”. Faced with an outrageously high cost of living which forces a lot of people formerly known as a “middle class” to work several jobs and still perceive their lifestyle as precarious, “the people demand social justice” (Hebrew “ha’am doresh tzedek chevrati”) now. And here. Be it during the massive demonstrations in Israel’s urban hubs or peripheral cities, be it in between a circle of tents during a public lecture or over a beer on someone’s terrace – “the people” in its and their heterogeneity talk, discuss, move ideas and engage in lively debates. Whereas during the first weeks of the growing protest movement the media and the struggle’s representatives constantly reiterated an non-political (whatever that may have been), solely social understanding of their plight, more recently the surprisingly non-disappearing connection between Israel being an occupying and oppressive state with a yearly security budget in the billions and therewith lacking financial backing elsewhere, has risen to a non-negotiable (oh, I meant non-negligible, silly) fact on the ground (or rather – in the heads) of this grassroots movement and media representations thereof.

These moments of shifts, these ruptures in societal and socio-political constitutions, they are, one could argue, even more prone to know the hum, honk and hustle accompanying it. Some of these alliterations not only concern language but also are bloody serious, result in burning streets, dead people, and dictators in cages.

Some others are fun. Or rather fun that makes one wonder.

II.
So, there are three actual intersections. Busy ones. Within the bigger context of a seemingly hot-headed, impolite and chaotic – qualities that are unquestionably perceived differently in different places and habitualized forms of socialization. I grew up in Germany, and lived in England – public sphere, which I am currently part of, interrupting the chaotically choreographed order of things is not usually met with cheers and smiles. Arguably, the ruptures described above are so far being met with an understanding and supportive public response and participation.

One might presume it has to do with so many individuals’ own immediate needs and frustration that are suddenly on the forefront of a collective protest, and some form of desire for unity within this struggle seems to suggest itself as the way to go. A person’s own urgent and tangible will for change of their way of living is, apparently (and almost sadly so, given the fact that in most cases these needs are obviously intertwined with others’), a rather motivating force for activism. “I have a problem, therefore I act.” is easier said and done than, “I see you have problem, which may or may not have something to do with me, therefore I act.”

Patience.

III.
“If not now – when?” … Not only part of one of Hillel’s most famous sayings (“If not us – who” precedes the time), but also a chorus line of Yehoram Gaon’s “Od lo ahavti dai” (I have not yet loved enough), a catchy and sunny tune, frequently used for big circle dances that have had their share in a Zionist identity formation during the first decades of the State of Israel.

This song now, and, “If not now – when?”, is played at these busy intersections one Tuesday evening in August. A portable speaker placed in the middle of the road, and suddenly, out of a regular group of pedestrians waiting for the traffic lights to allow them passing, a group of about 30 to 40 people emerges, forms a circle and dances, claps, jumps and sings along. Two and a half minutes the intersection is blocked. Pedestrians see, halt, look, some smile, some are obviously irritated. Drivers are faced with people on the street, which does not seem something most of them appreciate. Many cars and motorbikes meander around the circle, forcing it into some other, more elliptical form, breaking apart the chain of hands joint. Bus drivers argue with wild gestures, impatient passengers are pointing at their watches, metal pushes into people. It is fun, frighteningly so. One would think – people, it is two and a half minutes, why can’t you just let them do their thing? Why push push push? The shove of metal pushes people down, almost.

However, at such a time when push comes to shove, now, more precisely, one wonders why and how people react to interruptions of their being so aggravated, so annoyed, so ignorant. What makes one form of rupture okay, and another one a problem one needs to deal with aggressively? To which level are people here, now, willing to let others voice their concern, their being, in a public sphere?

Public Movement who organized these three little public interventions facilitated a sense of uncertainty for the people being faced with it (and, partially, for the participants too, I am sure) – How does this action relate to the current protest? Why are they dancing a folk-dance? Who are these people, there is no banner, no shouting, no youth-group-shirt? Why are they doing this? Why the fuck are they blocking the damn road and make me be late for this appointment by two and a half minutes? Why this song? Who are they? What do they want? How am I supposed to react? Can I join in? Do I like it? What do I like about it? Would I like to join in? Why am I so angry when someone is 1.) apparently having fun and 2.) is really not that violent or bad?

Am I getting my way? Is that what the angry reactions were asking? Am I getting my problem solved by their action? Do they have a problem? Would I want to listen? Engage with them afterwards? Would I want to know? Why would I want to know? Does it relate to my problems and me?

IV.
I have no patience.
I demand social justice.
Now.
Yes.
How long is now?

V.
Rupture.
Reflection.

of burrowing

Posted: Wednesday, 11 February 2009 | Posted by k | Labels: , , , 0 comments

going back from potsdamer platz to my flat tonight was rather strange. a sort of alertness found its way back into my brain (... actually i just wrote "may brain" ... maybe may then). i am glad it has, to be perfectly honest.

alert indeed i was some days ago by the picture that was, in a packet of posters, sent to the forum office and on display in its wrapping some hours. intrigued i thought that this must be my favourite movie of the programm. i never even knew, then, what it was about, by whom, etc. tonight i finally made it to a screening of man tänker sitt (burrowing) and can say i was rarely as moved as with this debut by fredrik wenzel, henrik hellström. this depiction of solitude/loneliness/vulnerability/subliminal violence was so modestly brilliant and breathtakingly shot. the character of sebastian, a young boy, leaves traces of his whimsical, 'naive' wisdom in the narrational structure by overvoices. feeling of being vulnerable oneself as a viewer because of the ordinariness of situations and places. structurally you might judge sebastian's way of looking at things as something that will pass, some wishful thinking - as in the notion of his hope that his own loneliness is something that might be dealt with later in his life as he sort of settles professionally, emotionally. this inert wish striked me as so human. the cinematography as one way of staging the seclusion was just wonderful. but then this paradox of this hope he maybe carries within himself for himself (?) clashes with the precise descriptions of everyday suburban horrors he gives.

writing this now makes me think i should have just said nothing as what i was going through during the screening was just beyond words. which in itself might be something that helps to sensually grasp the lack of humanness in human interactions. man tänker sitt, if i understood correctly, means something like "everybody has their own thoughts". we have. yes. we have.

the aforementioned "unification" during berlinale only goes so far. wondering how the area around potsdamer platz would actually look like seen from above. because additionally to a zillion posters and billboards comes a lighting strategy that sort of stars out from potsdamer platz through all the streets on which there is some berlinale-connected building. remarkable as usual - despite all those lamps being red the ones for talent campus are pink.

a red center, a beating heart of humanness or lack thereof.

all expanded

Posted: Saturday, 7 February 2009 | Posted by k | Labels: , , , 0 comments

trying for the third time to start this post i realize that maybe there is nothing much to say besides stressing the notion of expanded in my current life.

lucky me shared a car for the openings on friday with team of forum expanded, stefanie, nanna and uli, expanded by barbara hammer and michael snow, later marie losier and sebastien sanz de santamaria. what i loved when i actually saw the exhibitions was pavel büchler at tanya leighton gallery and i am very much looking forward to being at the artist talk with them tomorrow. karoe goldt's piece in galerie antje wachs was sort of really sad. eyes die. i find that utterly disturbing.

a must see - ludwig schönherr. i love his work. the exhibiton (as the installation in filmhaus and the filmprogramm curated by marc siegel) in halle a/14 is really something else, seriously. anything structural/chaotic that resonates within you should call you to that place. and once you're there, have a closer look at bill viola's "transfiguration" in haunch of venison. it is beautiful beyond belief.

being 'inside' the festival as somebody working there makes me feel like michel de certeau again ... no kidding, looking down at potsdamer platz from the office is ridiculous sometimes and you wish corporate design was never created, though i do believe that this year's design is sort of sweet and subliminally very much fitting the notion of unified masses hustling down unified streets in their unified ways of feeling utterly busy and important.

but tv-man on super-big screen inside sony centre said "die stimmung ist gut am potsdamer platz".

i'll go get some sleep now and hopefully will dream of that summer day when there's nothing to do besides having eyes and heart open again. maybe there will be water, too, a lake with a view or a drenching curtain that'll transfigure me back into something b/w.

you can have a look at the other forum expanded events (films, exhibitions, performances, talks, tours ...) here. don't miss "farewell" by stefan zeyen in the black box at filmhaus! and - do enjoy marie losier's gorgeous "movie boxes".

wow: mozart. and wow: sunglasses

two things i found worth sharing with you. as for the first, it bears some resemblance to bukkake, does it not?

and the second, well, i guess, i am flabbergasted. i mean. whoaaaa.......rgh. actually, i considered having this one as a splitscreened film running next to one of my videos. i didn't dare. i would so sink in the shadow of that ...

if enjoy is the appropriate term, i hope you enjoyed.

bachelorette vids - late night randomness

well, this is so going to be wholly different than the others :)

on random things like countryside love, swollen balls (that were not his: http://www.gayromeo.com/leatherchapsbln but two guesses on who that is. the one who says it first, gets a chance to be the one this paper is dedicated to (if you're sure, it will pretty much be a lot of fun for you to check out this: ... well, i can't really say it here. too naughty. hihi. but i am so very much in the mood to share, so send me a message. hint: ). for obvious reasons l. is not allowed to say it, sorry), musicals, and anonymous hair.
let's face it. all of it.

know hope

Posted: Thursday, 17 July 2008 | Posted by k | Labels: , 0 comments

i guess we all have our likings right. our little favourites. our maybe obsessions if it is really very bad (or good).
well, streetart is something i know very little of but it fascinates me a lot and i do very much like it. some of the most interesting things i ever saw were maybe the stencils and pieces in israel, especially at the border in bethlehem.
banksy did a lot of stuff there. and know hope from whom the following was done in l.a. but who comes from israel has such a lovely style. the background of that piece shows the project face to face where one israeli and a palestine are both making funy faces and more or less clash their cultures' conflicts, maybe.

the profile this is limbo at flickr shows a wide selection of know hope's work.

face 2 face:

banksy is so well reputed that his works sometimes are actually carved out of their quite well chosen places and are hung into galleries.

well, enjoy :)

of fences

Posted: Tuesday, 15 July 2008 | Posted by k | Labels: , , 0 comments

this book is just really very good. i can't say more because: "The story of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is very difficult to describe. Usually we give some clues about the book on the jacket, but in this case we think that would spil the reading of the book. We think it is important that you start to read without knowing what it is about.
If you do start to read this book, you will go on a journey with a nine-year0old boy called Bruno. (Though this isn’t a book for nine-year-olds.) And sooner or later you will arrive with Bruno at a fence.
Fences like this exist all over the world. We hope you never have to encounter such a fence."

....

i came back sunday night and felt a little tired, whereas little is quite the stretchable term, isn't it.

this week's course on powerpoint started and i feel like stfu...

nottingham ... i survived halo. great. i've been to derbyshire. matlock. heights of abraham. muddy. quite the oily fish'n'chips.

lions after slumber: "my demands 'n' my angels 'n' my waiting 'n' my distance. my death, my curtness, my insulin, my memory." who(')re scritti politti anyway, to me at least?

the person who wanted to move in, quite amiably cancelled and i am seriously pissed. but we'll have some people here this afternoon when i in fact should be in the other flat, maybe a little more painting.

i also read this book loose girl by kerry cohen and it made me very sad at points because maybe on some level i could very nicely relate to the stuff.

now, there is rushdie waiting now and i guess i better start reading serious things for my bachelorette-paper, too.

there you go, nothing too exciting.

and - i think now i know why i liked vanessa. look:

do i seem obsessed? ...

ladies and gentlemen

Posted: Friday, 6 June 2008 | Posted by k | Labels: , , , , 0 comments

jennifer, and i would like to quote myself, "who actually has the body and face and age of a to-be-soon-called-topmodel. she is just the apparently only sane choice an agent would do" - is germany's next topmodel! was she my private and professional favourite from the very first look or was she not? i confess that professionally i would have thought vanessa was superb, too, but she went by her own choice, something i have never really lamented about here. so that's my tears for vanessa who looked so incredibly beautiful ...........
thereby found future profession. i'll go and cast people. that's right. but for everything, not only just modelling.

anyhow, had a gig in magnet last friday. came back home 6. the beer. p out so long. g- wowwowowowowow!! thanks a lot for coming to c?, fe, fs, jg, ??, mb, pk, sk, sk. maybe chance of breakthrough went by. was nice hearing nothing but birds on the way back.

went to table dance bar saturday. came back home 5. the mirrored stage, the pole, the shabbyness, the "mother superior", the cheap drinks, the easyness of getting inside, the copied dollars, the smell, the us army sergeant who asked whether or not i worked there. good to have talked with m about it later that night. and curious about how we're going to present it in the seminar, because, obviously that's why we went, because of foucault.

went to see my father my lord which was shown in the jewish film festival. if that's a word, 'akin-esque' was maybe the camera, i liked the materiality. i also liked the actors partly. it was quite an easy plot and not overly edgy to be honest but it gave some very brutal comments on "religion over everything". some days ago i also saw ushpizin and that was really funny and beautifully tragic and comic. very old testament-esque if that is a word. went for an insightful drink with y. came back home 1.

was tired monday. slept. was angry about myself for falling for fucking mobile company mo****om. never ever go with that company. it is not usually my urge to bash (well, maybe yes) but this time, seriously, they're not what they're telling you.

edited my film eiszeit which will, and i am devastated about other parts of that arrangement, premier july 2nd at a forum of theatre students dealing with time, surprisingly enough.

incredible things do happen!

Posted: Saturday, 19 April 2008 | Posted by k | Labels: , , , 0 comments

imagine this: let's say ohrenbrausen has a valueable electronic device amongst many. think mac book pro. those things stored in the car get stolen from that car in berlin mitte on one sad afternoon. now, after reporting to the police ohrenbrausen's parked car, now in berlin kreuzberg gets cracked open again and other lovely devices find a new owner. now sad sad sad. think very sad and awfully bad. devastating in a way. now think you wanna go buy a new mac book pro and think why not have a look what ebay offers. now think you find your own mac book pro on ebay a little less than two weeks after the incident offered to you by some lovely person who also offers a whole bunch of other things. two hours after ohrenbrausen reports this to the police they find an amazingly big store of reportedly stolen electronic devices. ohrenbrausen is now with old mac book pro.

---

re: incredible things: it certainly has not slipped your honoured attention that those five professional favourites i named in one of the first posts on germany's next topmodel are still high in the ranking of beloved heidi, rolf and peyman, has it? and certainly no one can doubt that vanessa and jennifer are still gorgeous beyond belief. has anyone else realized that vanessa looks not unlike clementine ford, daugther of cybill sheperd, who plays molly kroll in the l word season 5? and what, by the way shall we think about that? anyone adele-bashing? with the 6th season being announced as the ending there are still some stories to be told. for being secretly the star - shane has the last frame of season 5 :)
well, now, vanessa and jennifer. one who has brains (she is also enrolled in mathematics, just as last year's barbara. isn't that just great, and it's maths year in germany, screams very loud does it not?) and one who actually has the body and face and age of a to-be-soon-called-topmodel. she is just the apparently only sane choice an agent would do, certainly only on a professional level, i know, and there won't be the most professional choice. let's just hope vanessa and her will be there much longer. and wanda, too. christina looked like juliane moore in that naked shooting did she not. if anyone by any chance wants to go bashing around, join the "gisele and carolin suck so terribly hard"-club. in some earlier post i spoke briefly about hackfressen - now there are two images for that. which says nothing about their beauty or whatever you might like about them. both being not exactly what i would find beautiful or even handsome, i couldn't care less, but let's face it, they're just bashable, without even speaking i want to hurt them really bad. bad.

---

i am learning yiddish now and found a wonderful page about it here. i am getting better letter by letter :) and it's huge fun reading children's books.

should i?

after germany's next topmodel no3

Posted: Saturday, 15 March 2008 | Posted by k | Labels: , , , , 0 comments

firstly, let me thank my audience for being so supportive. thank you. thank you. i would never have guessed to receive an award because of being able to predict professional modeling choices. right. thank you. see, i told you (with ruc) that vanessa is special. well, we'll see. i am getting more interested in jennifer, whereas raquel loses some points for me.
and because the world is such a terrrible place and i lack sleep and food at this specific moment in time:

loved:
vanessa.
jennifer.

hated:
gisele.
sophia.

personal braindamage from earlier post turned out to be miss penthouse. she is now a naked braindamage which is no professional education i would not consider. why not, it could just be having a great time.

it was funny to talk to colleagues from university about gnt.

***

hackfresse and kotzbrocken are two ethymologically highly interesting and appropriate topics for this blog. this is why i wrote this last sentence.

***

so, homi k. bhaba was in berlin. at the re-imagining asia exhibition in the haus der kulturen der welt and he gave a keynote on "global memory. on barbaric transmission". his lecture was inspiring and at times truly engaging. and i think that his stressing the "past that is not going to die and a future that will not wait to be born" are a kind of nice way to characterize the human condition and the responsibilities that face each and everyone of us.

***

spent two hours talking about one painting of yl with yl.

***

second gig with marwell was marwellous. there were sk, fs, c?, fj, ruc, sf, cm, yl, nb. i liked that a lot :) thank you for coming. hang out afterwards with future management in freizeitheim and june in prenzlauer berg.

***

recently on myspace i found out that the roosters are now stalin vs. band. hh is looking his usual naughty standards which brings me to this:

***

am now about to have another slice of bread and envy organic food of present flatmates. later mini-break in saxony. suddenly feel like screengoddess in manner of grace kelly, though ever so slightly less elegant under pressure (which, basically is as nice a quotation as "i used to wanna change the world, now i just wanna leave the room with a little dignity (adorable justin bond in SHORTBUS - amazing. found my future occupation. am not about to tell which one - but give it a guess)). and - a mini-break is not just shagging. a mini-break means true love. looking forward to round belly, whiteish hair, otto and riverside, although it is just too little time.

germany's next topmodel no2 with ruc

Posted: Saturday, 8 March 2008 | Posted by k | Labels: , , 2 comments

after a hilarious annual conference on staging festivity sponsored by her ministery in which i absolutely adored achatz von müller and where yet two other mythical wor(l)d inventions - 'djiddyraven' (me and ruc) and 'agender2010' (ruc and fj) - took place, we (that is ruc and me, now based in an unknown quantity of liquid (slightly alcoholic or(?!?!) somehow bukkake-connected (see below)) watched germany's next topmodel in the huge lecture hall until we were chased away by this immensly muscled security guard in one sexy uniform.

now, to the important facts:

professional favorites (if we were peymann)

vanessa

jennifer
wanda
janina
raquel

personal favorites (betthäschen)

sandra

jennifer

(bianca, sorry, we forgot her, but she usually turns up and you would not let her go, would you?)

hate O/Abjects

carolin

carolin
gisele
carolin
sabine-marie (berlin breakdancestar fuck off mothafucca - aber zum glück raus)
carolin (bukkake??? see below or - leave her be, she's just another human being, it is really not fair to be hateful towards her! consider justice and misogyny, please. well, she's really bashable. (i learned another nice combination of words - foucault-bashing - which i would never do for the most apparent reasons))

personal (and everbody's) entertainment

gina-lisa (personal pornprollqueen with likely potential: short black hair and shutting up and less make-up --> visit boris and redirect him to me afterwards)
sarah (for cinderella's sake ---> she was such an ugly ugly, like, REALLY UGLY child, you know)

personal braindamage

"wie heest die? die mit der heidi-klum-frisur" (the one with the heidiklumhaircut who is not heidi klum, whereas heidi herself could be on that list for personal braindamage. the hebrew word "klum" means "nothing") - aka aline aka "ich bin mit 4,1 durchs abitur gefallen, aber habs im oralen rausgerissen"

'below'

HUGE WARNING for MATURE CONTENT FOLLOWING

asian bukkake machine - only watch when absolutely sure you're sure. that's for the true men amongst us.

sweeney todd

Posted: Friday, 29 February 2008 | Posted by k | Labels: , , , 1 comments

visually sweeney todd from its very first frame (i loved the opening credits in all its abstraction) was an immense pleasure for me.
i adored alan rickman's voice and it seemed obvious to us that he used the same timbre as in the potter-films. shivers... i loved one line that sweeney todd said whilst holding up his new/old razors: "At last! My arm is complete again!" it seems interesting that additionally to all the visual keys of him being 'different' he considers himself incomplete when without a prosthesis. screams very loud in one certain direction, does it not. not that i put in words so eloquently, but the last scene, i totally agree with fe, seems to be a reversed pièta and was just beautiful beyond words. the same goes for helena bonham carter - very yummy and tragically funny.

i loved how the innocent, be it thought or thing or living being, was practically erased (see: erase, raze, razor) from the plot ...
i found it mildly disturbing that i couldn't watch the ads before the movie itself without analysing their potential misogynistic attitude. so, my hidden creeping radicalisation, as wb put it, seems obvious to me now, too. well, but perhaps i will never be fundamental and radical.

i so loved being in the cinema!

i also watched pan's labyrinth in a very poor quality but very much enjoyed it. somehow 'the fantastic' has found a very solid base in my heart and is a source of constant stimulation and pleasure which is good. there should be more magic. which, quite obviously, is why i bought a sweater that looks very glittery, see here:

re: misogynistic or magic. not too much thereof in germany's next topmodel, sadly lacking glitter and magic and disturbing grace, at least when the first episode. it seems to be turning into another dsds (well, it never was anything else, i know!) what with forcing people to commit ridiculing crimes. i very much am for sandra at the moment but do think that jennifer and raquel are cool and i am so curious about what happens to gina lisa, seriously.

manifesto for the dada of the cyborg-embrio

Posted: Thursday, 21 February 2008 | Posted by k | Labels: , , 0 comments

"|...| s/hit is a natural narcissist (pleasurable self-therapy through self-eroticism & sex) as the psyche has to accomodate for loss-of-form, fear of transformation:
identity= CLOUD of the most probable whereabouts

|...| loss and becoming are part of one process: mutilation is loss&becoming at the same time: lose an arm>become a fountain, get blown to pieces>get a new shape, get killed>become eatable left-overs"

i adored the cloud. and i guess that splatter is just another way of accepting and being honest with each other. hans a. scheirl who wrote these words above and has this manifesto published in the eight technologies of otherness, ed. by sue (or johnny) golding, by whom i, incidentally, was utterly impressed, is a painter/filmmaker living in london who did the film dandy dust >>>

now cy know.

...

nothing much happened.

indeed, the 'nothing much' just 34 minutes ago was bruce darnell's styling show which is just booooring. it's ridiculous, really. and it's not so so bad that it would be funny.

much time today was spent with reading beatriz preciado and trying to grasp the dildo, literally (... lol), which was not so bad, really. i would not say, by all means, i understand everything she writes, but some of her thoughts about the technologies of sex seem interesting to me and i loved how her text worked. it also made me laugh at certain points, especially those connected to kellog. if you wanna know, go buy the manifesto contrasexual. or watch this (so sorry, nothing about kellog here):

"ich möchte lieber nicht"

Posted: Thursday, 14 February 2008 | Posted by k | Labels: , , , 0 comments

i watched romero's "dawn of the dead" this morning after a healthy breakfast. everything stayed inside and i seriously have to rethink my attidtude towards horrormovies. it was very interesting, not at all unintelligent, in my humble opinion anyways. i cannot properly understand why they've put it on the index.

o, and lately there was "damage" on the telly. i so love jeremy irons, he makes my knees all melty and my heart all beaty ... (and i must confess my continued support of whimisicality) - there was this line which anna barton (juliette binoche) said to stephen flemming (jeremy irons): "Damaged people are dangerous. They know they can survive." i pretty much agree and hoped it would be otherwise. because we have to at least try to understand that not one single action takes place without damaging or violencing somebody or something. we're all elephants in a fucking big shop of fragile items that just scream of being shattered. but they're not breaking apart. nobody breaks apart. they're just moving millimeters. it seems allright. fine. but nothing is in place. and a bomb begins to tick. it might never explode literally. but still, we need to consider that this hideous violence in all our doings and relations to the world makes the world shift slightly. but they'll get back to you. they always will. even if it is just by the fact of putting up no signals when you're heading towards a cliff. guess what, cliffhangers are just for films.

and another film with juliette binoche i've only just recently seen was michael haneke's "caché" - you have to see it, that's really all there is to say. such tension, such brutal force of deconstructing 'realities', such brilliant acting and so little to do but accept failure and face responsibilities. amazing, also from a point of the film's filmic properties. brilliant.

tonight there was a lecture of one young dramaturg in some semi-shady place called wahlkreis in semi-shady mitte on reinhardtstraße (just no semi-shady blonde with me, but two brunettes who could easily be taken as my relatives) with kurt beck and die grauen panther at the wall (it was an event hosted by sdw, look that up and imagine the crowd, you might get a (however 'right') impression). he, the guy speaking, is doing his dissertation thesis on love and intrigue in harry potter which he also spoke about. i was, unfortunately, quite bored and wondering why he even has an (art)university diploma related to theatre when he obviously had no idea about his own effect apart from being the smartass. (he went to court for getting 1.0! he sued until everybody was pissed of with him. incidentally and speaking of ass, i have been on the loo when he was, too, which was funny). no, he made an effort which was done to no good effect to me. i guess, it pretty much showed that he attended carl hegemann's courses, what with quoting himself, schiller, goffman and wagnerian stuff. well, he said he was always compared to harry potter and his boss, some female minister from some unnamed ministery (where he was working some unspecified period), to dumbledore, that he started reading the books then and now likes harry best. i am really too much into severus snape to be prepared for discussion on that specific aspect of the potterverse. i mean, seriously ...

one trollop's gossip

Posted: Sunday, 10 February 2008 | Posted by k | Labels: , , , 0 comments

so, i have to confess, i am no good at telling sexual orientation. rather bad, really. anyways. came to think of it when speaking about possible job opportunity earlier and then tonight talking to fe about a person who is just delectable and was spotted there where i was.
there have been other people as well (who would have guessed, really, karl improve your dramaturgy):
obviously isabella rossellini who was wearing a rather mother guru like black dress with some white jewelery. dress was not showing figure or if so then not to best advantage... no, but delighted. she was giving interviews. i was watching from above, feeling oscillating between goddess and michel de certeau . wonder if 2 floors is high enough for such action.
anyways she was interviewed by dieter moor and many others, but didn't speak to the assembled people which i guess is alright. she drank water, like myself ( :) ) which was gerolsteiner which i cannot stand. well, then we had the cheap crew, lovely miss vaginal davis
, who, i cannot spare you, spent 10 minutes at the ladies' with make up bag, came back, sat classy in loungy chair, was being pampered and entertained by darling little boys (including the delectable which, obviously, is not telling the whole saga), one of whom came to press make up tissues when performance of cheap for their cheapy award ceremony was due. it's a thing i gave at least three seconds of thought, miss rossellini (have i told you that the green porno was really rather great - she incarnated different male insects and described the sex act of specified insects - great!) came, not too classy i guess, but was surrounded by cameras and even two autograph craving guys, whereas miss davis was the classy madame nana with the tissue thing and lovely guys, too. female classiness knows no boundaries.
anyways, who else. well, scarlett wasn't there which was no pity. enough female classiness with the misses davis, rossellini and little me.
spotted peaches and also guy maddin and jerry tartaglia (which made sense, because he was hosting the jack smith screening later on).
well, so much for the gossip which really is inspired by the lovely gossip studio cheap and the arsenal created in the atrium of sony centre. check it out, it's worth it, really: bar, b_books store (which is just a bookshop to die for (i, personally would rather kill for that specific place, because where'e the fun in being dead in a bookshop?). the buergels could tell you if they would be talking to you), cheap shop, installation art. nice. and you just might meet interesting people. or not.
fe had the nicest hair really. well perhaps apart from the delectable's ones.

i am concerned and i wonder

it is due to whatever reason that i am spending hours not doing 'rational' things. well, but still, there is not not thinking about what i encounter which is good somehow, i guess. so here we go with some of the nicest things i have read recently and it makes me sick:

i especially like the 'female intern' part.
ann is very good at outing homosexual politicians. perhaps that is a good job i could go for, too. she called al gore a 'total fag'. and she knows that bill clinton 'may not be gay', but stated the opposite which was not based on personal experience but is a joke, as known in publishing.
i so not not not love her! what do you think of her? (she has nice hair btw, really need to send her a note asking where she's having it done, maybe i can be her female intern and accompany her to all things hair and beauty connected and be a little comfort in such horrid times)
and - there is chris crocker and his trying to make public the homophobia on youtube. which is a huge controversy at the moment and all the comments he receives can make you sick, i promise. so if you wanna be sick check the comments to his vids. some of my favourites:

you haven't checked on chris crocker? well, shame, really. due to that you have now missed the internet boyfriend search, but you can still watch the response vids. funny anyway, vid is gone but response still there. is it like the unoriginated origin of things? wow, like there are traces, too.
incidentally, one of the other things i did, was reading high quality literature and now know that the movie is better than the book. congratulations to the storyliners of bridget jones. but, anyways, i was stuck reading rabidly and feel older than my identity card tells me due to being able to identify with so much older lunatic spinster. now it's finished and i can keep on wondering and later watch insect porn with darling isabella. i am so looking forward to seeing her. unquotable sources even speak of scarlett attending the opening. if you wonder, which is alright - when the wonder is gone there is no more child in you to keep on exploring - the arsenal, the berlinale and green porn.
oh joy, yesterday's nightie outie was nice, got advances from 60 year old crumply face and wondered. also there was some creating of new words with ruc and jk. i would love to keep in mind the 'metavulväre genouille' which obviously derives from einer hinterfotzigen, das genieren erhöhenden unangenehmen situation wie in der scheiße stecken (aka bredouille) which can easily be translated. but i won't.
